Assemblywoman Brown’s Record on Jobs and Consumer Protection Earns Her Engineers' Endorsement

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (October 27, 2016) - Today, Assemblywoman Cheryl Brown (D-San Bernardino) is announcing the latest endorsement in her re-election campaign from the Engineering Contractors’ Association (ECA). ECA, since 1976 has served underground and heavy construction professionals in Southern California providing leadership and education on issues important to engineers.

The endorsement letter written to Assemblywoman Cheryl Brown and signed by Bill Singleton, President of the Enginerring Contractors' Association and ECA PAC Chairman, Scott Salandi reads: "Our endorsement of your re-election is based on your outstanding record of public service, your philosophical views on issues important to our members, your dedication to policies that empower working families including your strong support for policies that keep jobs in Southern California, protect labor and fund infrastructure development. For these reasons and others, we are honored to extend to you our full support for your candidacy."

"I truly appreciate the engineers represented by ECA in their endorsement of my re-election," said Assemblywoman Cheryl Brown. "At a time when our community continues to grow, our transportation infrastructure has to meet regional needs. I am proud to have brought increased investments to our highways and fought against provisions that would have been detrimental to working freeway commuters in the Inland Empire."

As a Member of the Transportation Committee, Assemblywoman Cheryl Brown has been a critical partner in getting the resources and funds needed to rebuild our highways and bridges. In particular, she has:

  • -Fought against provisions in SB 350 that would have penalized freeway commuters from using their cars to get to work. Cheryl Brown's opponent supports these provisions.
  • -Assisted in getting funds for the Mt. Vernon/I-215 Bridge, Mt. Vernon/I-10 Freeway Interchange, Fugg Street/ BSNF & Colton Project and the Mt. Vernon bridge widening project in Colton.
  • -Established a local hiring preference pilot project on the I-10 Pepper Exit widening project in Colton.
