ASSEMBLY MEMBER CHERYL BROWN WINS ENOUGH DELEGATES TO EARN CA DEM PARTY RECOMMENDATION FOR ENDORSEMENT
SAN BERNARDINO, CA – Today, Assembly Member Cheryl R. Brown’s (D-San Bernardino) re-election campaign for California’s 47th Assembly District announced that it has confirmed support from over 82% of California Democratic Party Delegates in the district.
According to new by-laws by the California Democratic Party, candidates must receive at least 70% of support from the district’s delegates at the “pre-convention endorsement caucus” held late January. Such a recommendation is required for endorsement at the California Democratic Party convention scheduled a month later on February 26-28. The “pre-convention endorsement caucus” is comprised of not only California Democratic Party State Central Committee delegates who vote at the state convention, but also of San Bernardino County Committee and district-based Club Appointed Democratic Party Delegates.
“I am truly grateful and honored to receive the support from Democratic Delegates in the 47th Assembly District and proud to carry the Democratic Party endorsement once again into the November election,” said Assembly Member Cheryl Brown. “I’ve always believed that the Democratic Party is the Party of inclusion that seeks to represent all voices in the community. I’ve listened closely to the community, voted on legislation with my conscience, and understand the awesome responsibility that has been given to me to represent the Inland Empire as an Assembly Member. We’ve been working hard to bring Democratic unity to the Inland Empire and today’s confirmation of support validates this effort.”
Once ballots are cast, they cannot be revoked, changed or rescinded. At convention, all candidate recommendations are added to the California Democratic Party’s consent calendar for simple ratification.
